Ex-Rep. Butler Derrick Dies
Former Rep. Butler Derrick, D-S.C., died Monday after a seven-month battle with cancer, according to local press . He was 77.
He served South Carolina for 20 years until retiring in 1994. Republican Lindsey Graham filled Derrick’s seat, before running for the Senate years later. The House seat has been held by a Republican ever since.
In 2004, Derrick headed the Washington office of the law firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough.
