The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee announced raising $7.2 million in June — just about a million dollars more than its Republican counterpart.  

As the party fights to maintain its majority in the Senate , the DSCC has brought in about $25 million more than the National Republican Senatorial Committee to date this cycle. It raised about $21.7 million total from April through June and had $30.5 million in cash on hand as of June 30. “Thanks to the hard work and generosity of our supporters, with less than four months till Election Day we are positioned to hold the majority,” DSCC Executive Director Guy Cecil said in a statement.  

The NRSC announced raising $6 million last month and having $24 million in cash on hand as of the end of June. In a statement touting its own record-setting fundraising pace, the NRSC conceded the DSCC’s cash advantage but pointed out its own party’s fundraising successes in 2006 — when Democrats won back the majority.  

“Republicans have better candidates and are running better campaigns, but the Democrats’ fundraising machine, led by our most-partisan president, Barack Obama, remains the last vestige of their grasp on the Senate majority,” NRSC Executive Director Rob Collins said in a statement.
