With just hours to go until the Election Day buzzsaw officially rips apart half the nation’s hopes and dreams, candidates are hustling to sew up every last possible vote any which way they can.  

Louisiana Republican Bill Cassidy, who is hoping to unseat Sen. Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., in what’s likely to be a down-to-the-wire challenge, was pounding the pavement in search of support.

Former Sen. Scott P. Brown was making his case to displace New Hampshire Democrat Jeanne Shaheen while slinging sweets at a New London eatery.

Senate hopeful Ed Gillespie laid out how his vision for the Old Dominion differs from that of Virginia Democrat Mark Warner to folks crammed into the dining room of a renowned family-run restaurant.

And then there’s former Speaker Newt Gingrich. R-Ga.  

The presidential candidate-turned-pundit was poised to spend a couple of hours lounging around the luxurious Venetian resort in Las Vegas hawking his wife’s latest children’s book.
