  1. Republicans favor weapons spending.
  2. Republicans have little use for the welfare state.
  3. Republicans don’t trust arms control.
  4. Republicans are more likely to have military experience.
  5. Republicans are more willing to put boots on the ground.
  6. Republicans will seek to loosen defense spending caps.
