U.S. Military Studies Renewable Energy

The Associated Press reports that “the U.S. Navy is putting millions of dollars into renewable energy research in Hawaii.”  

“The Defense Department is the largest energy consumer in the U.S., and has long been worried about having to rely on expensive fuel oil for military operations.”  

“The executive director of the Applied Research Laboratory at the University of Hawaii says the lab has seen project funding rise from $7.9 million in 2013 to more than $20 million.”
