Four days after being named chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, New Mexico Rep. Ben Ray Luján was among several lawmakers who flew to Las Vegas Friday on Air Force One with President Barack Obama for an immigration event.

Obama, who unveiled an executive action on the issue Thursday night, was set to speak at a high school “to talk about the actions that he’s taken,” White House spokesman Eric Schultz told reporters during the flight. Besides Luján, the congressional delegation riding on Air Force One was comprised of members of leadership, high-profile Hispanic members and Nevadans.

They included House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey, Rep. Xavier Becerra of California, Rep. Luis V. Gutiérrez of Illinois, and Nevada Reps. Dina Titus and Steven Horsford, who was defeated for re-election earlier this month. Also on the flight were several leaders of minority coalitions.

Luján replaced outgoing DCCC Chairman Steve Israel of New York, who held the post for two cycles.
