Niki Tsongas, Jerrold Nadler Embraced by LGBT Filmmakers
Words of support that House Democrats Niki Tsongas of Massachusetts and Jerrold Nadler of New York extended to a same-sex couple whose union was threatened by the polarizing Defense of Marriage Act are slated to appear in an upcoming movie about the ongoing struggle.

“The film is a short, but poignant lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality and acceptance film, basically driving home why we fight for equality and still need more acceptance,” Hart told HOH about the movie, which is projected to begin production on March 14.
The Harts are seeking donations for the project on gofundme , but have already locked down endorsements from a handful of sympathetic celebrities, including:

With Nadler firmly on board, the aspiring screenwriters (a second flick, “The Family Truth” is already being fleshed out) are 1 for 2 within the New York delegation: Efforts to recruit Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand to the cause have yet to pay off.

Regardless of who (if anyone) piles on next, Hart said the plan is to have “Status Unknown” ready for distribution this April.
“We may have won some legal battles but acceptance is the biggest battle and the more we can highlight that the closer we are to achieving it,” the Harts say in a fact sheet about the movie.
