Gyrocopter Aftermath: Schumer’s on It

Sen. Charles E. Schumer has questions on the gyrocopter. A “whole lot” of them. The New York Democrat and ranking member on the Rules Committee said there are lots of questions that need to be answered “right away.”  

“How the heck did it happen? …  

“How’d the helicopter get through?  

“Why weren’t there alarm bells that went off?  

“Why wasn’t it intercepted?  

“Did we know about it?  

“How far from the Capitol grounds did we know?”  

Schumer said he expects to get those answers.  

Schumer also noted that he’s asked drone manufacturers to build into drones some locations, like airports, the White House and the Capitol, that are off-limits.  

The use of a gyrocopter raises additional questions, he said.
