Pelosi Bemoans Lack of Transportation Funding

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi slammed transportation spending cuts at her weekly news conference Thursday, one day after the House Appropriations Committee rejected Democratic amendments to increase funding for fiscal 2016 Transportation-HUD programs and following an Amtrak train derailment earlier in the week, which killed eight people and injured hundreds.

“We have five legislative days left until the Highway and Transit Trust Fund expires … this issue has not in the past been a partisan issue,” Pelosi said. “… No maintenance is the most expensive maintenance when it comes to maintaining the safety of our infrastructure.”
