The system — updated from the current Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) used by more than 20 air forces globally — allows air crews to quickly acquire targets just by looking at them in any direction instead of having to turn the aircraft toward the target. The new digital system uses LED technology for greater reliability and visual acuity.  

The new digital helmet puts most of the electronics in a molded pack on the back of the helmet.  

Dan Draeger, Boeing Test & Evaluation chief F-15 test pilot wore the new visor system and reports its better balanced for aircrews who can sometimes encounter neck and shoulder fatigue with the legacy JHMCS’s after pulling serious G’s [def : G Forces – A force acting on a body as a result of acceleration or gravity].
