Freshman Sen. Thom Tillis on Monday wrapped up a discussion on regulatory reform by explaining why the government should not require coffee shop employees to wash their hands after using the bathroom, using a conversation he had with an opponent at Starbucks a few years ago to illustrate his point. “I don’t have any problem with Starbucks if they choose to opt out of this policy as long as they post a sign that says, ‘We don’t require our employees to wash their hands after they use the restroom,’” Tillis said. “The market will take care of that.”
