Amy Schumer For #TheNew10?

Sen. Charles E. Schumer thinks a woman from his native New York should grace the new $10 bill , and he has some suggestions of illustrious home-state ladies throughout history for the Treasury secretary’s consideration: Harriet Tubman, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony and Eleanor Roosevelt.

In an online survey , the Democratic leader-in-waiting on Wednesday offers to influence Treasury’s decision-making process, but there’s also a “write-in” option to nominate “another NY woman who inspires you.” Perhaps we may suggest the senator’s distant cousin, comedy star Amy Schumer? Yeah, yeah. We know the star of Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer” isn’t dead, which kind of disqualifies her. And perhaps the senator would like to avoid any nepotism charges.

But really, the younger Schumer is an obvious choice. She’s making it in a male-dominated business, speaking truth to power about the media’s objectification of women and she proves that men aren’t the only ones who can be loud, crude and curse like sailors.

Some other important vital stats:

  • She was born and raised in New York City, fitting Sen. Schumer’s dream criteria.
  • She was raised Jewish, which would make her the first Jew to be featured on U.S. currency as well as the first woman.
  • She is only 34 years old, having accomplished a lot at a very young age.
  • She’s about to star in a feature film called “Trainwreck,” a romantic comedy that features plenty of important New York landmarks, including the Staten Island Ferry — a true sign she’s a loyal Native Daughter.

Surely the senator, who wants Empire State representation on #TheNew10, would be doubly tickled to see the face of his cuz on U.S. currency.

Sen. Schumer’s office and publicists for Amy Schumer did not respond to requests for comment.
