In a bid to maintain the chamber’s legislative momentum after an 11-day recess, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday kicked off consideration of a rewrite of the No Child Left Behind education law, noting the amount of “bipartisan reform legislation” that has already emerged from committees. “Many Washington pundits assume that Congress could never agree on a workable solution to replace a broken No Child Left Behind law, and they certainly didn’t believe one would receive unanimous committee support from both Republicans and Democrats,” McConnell said. “… The Every Child Achieves Act aims to ensure we’re helping students to succeed instead of helping Washington to grow.” Read more.
