Senate GOP Leaders Slam Iran Nuclear Deal

Senate Republicans opened Tuesday’s news conference discussing the Iranian nuclear deal. Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker said the agreement between Iran and six world powers has taken a “downward trend.” “Those who believe that this truly is going to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon will vote for it,” Corker said, referring to a law passed earlier this year ensuring congressional review of any Iran deal. “Those who believe that that is not the case and the world is not going to be safer and in some ways it may pave the way for them to get a nuclear weapon, will vote against it.” Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain suggested the deal may lead to a nuclear weapon for Iran. “I predicted that in their desperation that the president and John Kerry would make a bad deal,” McCain said. “It looks very much like they made a worse deal than even we had feared.” Read more.
