The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee out-raised its Republican counterpart by $1 million in September fundraising, according to numbers released by both committees.

The DSCC raised $4.2 million last month, while the National Republican Senatorial Committee brought in $2.9 million. But the NRSC reported having more cash in the bank.

The NRSC reported $9.9 million in cash on hand, while the DSCC has $9.2 million.

The DSCC is also $6.8 million in debt after the 2014 cycle, while the NRSC is debt-free.

Democrats are looking to net the five seats necessary to regain control of the Senate. Republicans are defending the lion’s share of seats this cycle, many of which are in states President Barack Obama carried at least once.
