Rep. Adam B. Schiff, D-Calif., broke into song on the House floor Friday, but not by choice.
The California Democrat lost a bet with fellow Democratic Rep. Steve Israel of New York, when the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the New York Mets last week in the National League playoffs.
Lawmakers making wagers on sports teams is nothing new: Bets often include donning another team’s colors or exchanging local delicacies, or maybe even some physical exertion . But Schiff’s loss is now recorded for the rest of history — at least in the congressional record.
