Rep. Sander M. Levin was back at work and doing fine on Wednesday evening after being treated for dehydration as a result of a brief fainting spell earlier in the day, an aide told Roll Call.  

The Michigan Democrat “has a cold and fainted briefly this afternoon after a coughing fit,” the Levin aide said.  

Levin, 84, left the Steering and Policy Committee hearing he was attending to get treated by the attending physician in the Capitol, the aide said.  

House Democrats at the hearing seemed caught off guard by Levin’s absence. He had a seat with a name tag on the dais, and after Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Md., finished her opening statement, she said she would yield the floor to Levin, then realized he wasn’t there.
