Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called upon Republicans to support increased gun control legislation at a news conference Thursday. In the wake of the mass shooting in San Bernardino, Pelosi voiced her support of a bill that would bar individuals on the FBI’s watch list from purchasing guns, as well as a bill that would eliminate background check loopholes for weapons purchases at gun shows. “We’ve had far too many moments of silence on the floor of the House,” Pelosi said. “And while it is right to respectfully acknowledge the losses, we can no longer remain silent. What gives us the right to hold moments of silence when we do nothing to act upon the grief?”
