Speaker Paul D. Ryan said at a news conference Thursday he is not concerned about missing the original Dec. 11 omnibus deadline, saying the House wants to “get it right” rather than rush to meet an arbitrary deadline. “It’s not nonchalance, it’s getting it right,” Ryan said. “Look, this is a trillion dollars we’re dealing with here. Hard working taxpayers work hard to send us their tax dollars, we have to respect that.”
