A Capitol Hill visitor was shot by Capitol Police on Monday after he pulled out what appeared to be a weapon during the screening process and pointed it at an officer, said Capitol Police Chief Matthew R. Verderosa. The suspect was taken to the hospital with a police escort shortly after the incident on a busy day for tourists in the nation’s capital. A bystander also suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital, he said.
