Poll Shows Clinton With Large Lead Over Trump
But survey also shows remaining challengers would do better than front-runners
Donald Trump starts the general election race trailing Hillary Clinton by double digits in a head-to head matchup, according to a new poll.
The CNN/ORC poll , conducted before Ted Cruz dropped out of the Republican race after a crushing defeat in Indiana on Tuesday, shows the presumptive GOP nominee behind the Democratic front-runner by a 54-41 percent margin.
Overall, voters are split on how they feel about Clinton — her favorable and unfavorable numbers are both at 49 percent, the poll showed. But Trump’s unfavorable number is 56 percent, while those who have a favorable opinion of him is 41 percent.

Cruz’s departure from the campaign trail leaves just one challenger to Trump, Ohio Gov. John Kasich. But numerous reports on Wednesday said Kasich was ready to bow out, trailing badly in the delegate count. Despite that, the poll showed him actually beating Clinton by 7 points in a head-to-head matchup.
Clinton’s challenger Bernie Sanders does better than she does against Trump, according to the poll. He beats Trump by 16 points and Kasich by 4.

The poll surveyed 1,001 people, 800 of them registered voters, between Thursday and Sunday.
