Trump to Talk to NRA about No Fly, No Buy Push
Legislative approach is being championed by Democrats

Donald Trump tweeted Wednesday morning that he will meet with the National Rifle Association to discuss legislation that would prohibit people on the federal terrorist watch list and the no-fly list from buying guns.
I will be meeting with the NRA, who has endorsed me, about not allowing people on the terrorist watch list, or the no fly list, to buy guns.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s interest could breathe new life into a measure championed by congressional Democrats and rejected by the NRA when it surfaced after the terrorist shooting in San Bernardino, California, last fall.
In a statement Wednesday afternoon, NRA said they would be happy to meet with Trump, but that the gun rights organization’s position had no changed. The NRA and many Republicans support a waiting period, not an outright ban, for people on the terror watch list to buy guns.
Democrats pledged to revive the legislative push for the ban on weapons sales after Sunday’s mass shooting in Orlando, Florida, that left 49 dead and 53 injured. The Orlando shooter, Omar Mateen, had come to the FBI’s attention in 2013 and 2014, but was not currently on the terror watch list.
House Republicans plan to push a package of counter-terrorism bills that would target individuals, like Mateen, who become radical but don’t belong to a terrorist group.
Trump won the NRA’s endorsement in May , despite past comments suggesting he supported some gun safety measures.
