Speaker Paul D. Ryan said Thursday he doesn’t see himself revoking his endorsement of Donald Trump even if the presumptive Republican presidential nominee continues to make controversial comments.  

“That’s not my plan. I don’t have a plan to do that,” the Wisconsin Republican said. “Look, we’re going to disagree on some things .  That’s just the way things work.”  

Ryan said he and Trump “do have a lot of common ground on things,” but there are things they don’t agree on, such as Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims for entering the country.

Asked about Trump’s comments on Wednesday in which he said Republican congressional leaders should “be quiet,” Ryan said, “You can’t make this up sometimes. I’ll just say we represent a separate but equal branch of government.”  

Ryan was also asked about Trump’s decision to revoke press credentials to many media outlets, including most recently The Washington Post. Ryan said he was unfamiliar with that but hopes it gets resolved. Then he let a reporter from the Post ask the final question at his press conference.
