Republican Rep. Robert Pittenger won a recount in the GOP primary for North Carolina’s 9th District Monday.  

Charlotte pastor Mark Harris picked up two votes in the recount, but he conceded the race.   

“Although disappointed in the ultimate outcome, we can rest assured that every vote cast has been accounted for and the result confirmed,” Harris said in a statement, according to The Charlotte Observer .   

Pittenger’s final margin of victory was just 133 votes.   

“We had full faith in the election process and are happy our victory was verified,” Pittenger said in a statement. “We must now come together as conservatives to defeat the Democrat’s liberal agenda in the 2016 election.”  

After election night on June 7, Pittenger led Harris by 142 votes . Official canvass results in the days after the election narrowed his lead  to 135 votes. Harris requested a recount on June 15.  

Court-mandated redistricting made 60 percent of Pittenger’s 9th District new to him. It shifted his seat from south of Charlotte eastward. The district now stretches from Southeast Charlotte to Cumberland County.    

The FBI and IRS have been investigating allegations that Pittenger improperly transferred money from his real estate company to his 2012 campaign account.
