Today is 61 days until Election Day and Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 75th birthday.

For the next 10 weeks until Nov. 12, Charlie Palmer is serving a “swing state cut” of the week. Drawing inspiration from battleground states, the steakhouse’s chef Michael Ellis is introducing a new three-course prix fixe and wine pairing each week.

On this week’s menu: Colorado lamb shank, beet salad and sponge cake is on the menu. Next week, look out for a Florida pork rib chop and key lime tart.

Rayburn Tunnel Coins Previewed

Rep. Candice S. Miller, R-Mich., highlighted in a video the new display for the walls of the tunnel between Rayburn and the Capitol. In April, Miller announced coins will replace the state flags in an effort to remove all traces of Confederate symbols in the Capitol complex.

Miller directed the Architect of the Capitol to install a reproduction of commemorative quarters issued by the U.S. Mint representing every state, D.C., and territories following the October 2015 removal of flags.

Team Up for Military Families

Members are helping kick off a new partnership between the United Health Foundation and Boys & Girls Club called “Better Together” at 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Kennedy Caucus Room. Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, and Reps. Jackie Walorski, R-Ind., Joe Heck, R-Nev., and Mike Coffman, R-Colo., will attend, as will representatives from the military, to celebrate an effort to improve the lives of military and civilian families.

Happy Birthday to…

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., 75.

Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho, 66.
