Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt will face his Democratic opponent, Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, in their first debate Friday.

The debate will likely be the only one between the Republican incumbent and his insurgent challenger, the Springfield News-Leader reported.

The debate, which will be held during the Missouri Press Association’s convention in Branson, will also feature three third-party candidates.

A recent poll from Emerson College put Kander ahead of Blunt, 42 percent to 40 percent, but that was within the survey’s 3.9-point margin of error. The latest RealClearPolitics average of polls from July 11 through Sept. 13 has Blunt up by 3.4 points.

The Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report/Roll Call rates the race as Leans Republican.
