Rep. Dana Rohrabacher says he is under consideration to be secretary of State by President-elect Donald Trump and he wants your support.

The California Republican informed his supporters through an email, suggesting that if they want to see him in the job, they should vote in an online poll conducted by Breitbart News, whose executive Stephen Bannon was recently named chief White House strategist in the Trump White House.

“While my present intention, of course, is to continue to fight for liberty and freedom as a member of the House of Representatives,” his email read, “as a strong supporter of President-Elect Trump’s vision for America, it would be a privilege and an honor to serve as his secretary of State.”

Rohrabacher, who represents California’s 48th District, currently serves as chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia and Emerging Threats.

He has, also, like Trump, occasionally defended Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying in a 2015 subcommittee hearing, “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a country being led by a ruler who wants their country to be a great country.”

But Rohrabacher, who worked as a speechwriter in the Reagan administration, has also criticized Trump in the past, saying the then-candidate “has turned me off … with his bullying of other people.”
