Republicans Target Baldwin on Gorsuch
Comes as Democratic senator in state Trump won opposes Supreme Court pick
Republicans are targeting Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., for her opposition to President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court pick Judge Neil Gorsuch.
Baldwin, who is up for re-election in 2018, has said she would oppose Gorsuch’s nomination, but said she would meet with him, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
Gov. Scott Walker and Baldwin sniped at each other about the pick, with Baldwin mocking Walker’s failed presidential run and questioned whether he wanted to run against her and Walker calling Baldwin a hypocrite.
Hypocrisy: telling others to meet with #SCOTUS nominee in 2016, but announcing your vote on nominee in 2017 before a meeting.

Is @ScottWalker trying to impress @POTUS with his tweets or does he want to run against me? I’m ready.

Sen. Baldwin is out of the mainstream. Refuses to meet with judge whose experience is nearly identical to Judge Garland. pic.twitter.com/ufmLyrGo3J

Your opportunity to weigh in on Gorsuch ended with your short-lived Pres campaign. Focus on fixing WI’s roads and bridges. #priorities https://t.co/BYCTa1Tyds

Meanwhile the National Republican Senatorial Committee released an advertisement that aired during the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s basketball game against Indiana University.
The ad is part of a larger effort by Republicans to target Democrats up for re-election in 2018 in states Trump won in 2016.
