President Donald Trump will deliver his final sales pitch for a Republican tax overhaul measure Wednesday with remarks intended to spell out a “brighter future” for Americans.

“As we work with Congress to achieve historic tax cuts, the president plans to speak Wednesday to the American people on how tax reform will lead to a brighter future for them and their families,” said Lindsay Walters, deputy White House press secretary.

Trump’s address, expected to take place in Washington, will come as a House and Senate tax-writing conference committee continues its work hammering out differences between the chamber’s differing tax bills. The president and his senior aides have made clear he wants to sign a bill by Christmas.

In his signature style, Trump often says he wants the Republican Party to hand the American people and businesses a “big, beautiful tax cut” as a Christmas gift.

Last week, Trump set a high bar for the conference committee’s work, telling reporters he and GOP leaders opted for a conference committee to craft a final version of the measure rather than force a House vote on the Senate’s version so Republican lawmakers could send him a “perfecto” bill.

The president predicted Sunday the final tax bill will be “SPECIAL!” He tweeted Republicans are getting “closer and closer” to having a final bill, adding his take that it will be “even better than projected.”

Independent analysts say the GOP measure will add to the federal deficit while also mostly benefiting the wealthiest Americans and corporations. But the White House and GOP lawmakers counter that it will spawn substantial economic growth and help middle-class families.
