Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer of North Dakota announced Thursday the death of his son, Isaac Cramer.

Cramer died at the Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, the congressman announced in a Facebook post. He was 35.

Cramer was hospitalized Feb. 24 in an intensive care unit in Bismarck due to kidney and liver failure.

“Now Isaac feels no anxiety or urging for alcohol. He feels no pain and will never be depressed again,” the post reads.

Cramer’s younger son, Abel, who is adopted, turned 11 years old Thursday.

The Facebook post added, “Now Isaac and Abel share the same birthday. God is good!”

Just over a month ago, the congressman announced he will run for Senate to unseat Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp.
