Standing Next to Conte, Trumps Says He’ll ‘Consider’ Shutdown Over Border Policy

During a news conference on Monday with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, President Donald Trump spoke about Congress’ need to prioritize border security. While he emphasized he would be “willing to consider” a shutdown if no funding for the border is provided in government funding measures that Congress is expected to pass in the fall, his tone was softer than Sunday’s all-out threat.
