Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer gained a new title this week — grandfather.

The New York Democrat announced the arrival of his first grandchild, Noah Melvin Schumer-Shapiro, in a tweet Wednesday.

The senator’s eldest daughter, Jessica, and her husband Michael Shapiro welcomed the baby boy in New York. The couple wed in in 2016. They first met in 2011 when they were policy advisers for the White House’s National Economic Council.

The baby’s middle name, Melvin, is in honor of his great-grandfather Melvin Weinshall, who was a cab driver in New York City.

Schumer’s family has been growing fast recently. Earlier this month  his youngest daughter Alison Schumer married Elizabeth Weiland in Brooklyn.
