Democrats have repeatedly referred to the impeachment of President Donald Trump as a “solemn” occasion. But the months (and years) leading up to the historic moment Wednesday have been marked with Congress’ usual antics, from taunting the attorney general with a chicken to comparing the president to Jesus.
