Greg Walden knows what’s on his staff’s mind

When Rep. Greg Walden was elected to Congress in 1998, he already had some sense of what his staff would go through, and what they would put him through.

Walden was press secretary, and later chief of staff, for then-Rep. Denny Smith in the 1980s. The retiring Republican sat down with CQ Roll Call to look back on his time as a Hill staffer.
