A sign marks a reserved seat on a Metro Blue Line train in Washington on Wednesday to honor Rosa Parks. The civil rights pioneer was born on this day — Feb. 4, 1913 — and Metro is commemorating this by reserving a seat for her on every bus and train across the system in recognition of Parks’ refusal to give up her own seat on a Montgomery, Ala., bus and subsequent arrest in 1955.
