Jenkins’ staff, however, will remain in place in the district until the Nov. 6 election results are certified, a process which usually takes roughly two weeks.
Jenkins, who lost a primary for the GOP Senate nomination in May, has filed to run for the special election to fill the remainder of the term on the court, which is set for Nov. 6.
The vote was 92-6. Republicans cast the opposing votes: Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Mike Lee of Utah, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Patrick J.

The special election to replace Meehan will be held on Nov. 6. Meehan is not the only former member of Congress who resigned in disgrace to contribute to campaigns.
He’s spent nearly $6 million of his own money on the race, and likely much more by the time Tuesday comes and goes.
