Foundation Honors Cummings

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation tomorrow will host a tribute at Morgan State University in Baltimore for Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the immediate past chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. Cummings’ term on the foundation’s board is ending.

The event will be held between 6 and 8 p.m. at the school’s Fine Arts Center. Cummings, who has been succeeded as CBC chairman by Rep. Mel Watt (D-N.C.), is credited with raising the CBC’s stature in Congress and nationally, carving out a key role for the group in the presidential election process and expanding the CBC’s membership to a record 43 lawmakers.
