Society to Honor Senate Appropriations Panel

Society to Honor Senate Appropriations Panel At a gala dinner on Tuesday night, the United States Capitol Historical Society will honor the history of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Hosted by Sens. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) and Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), the invitation-only dinner will feature remarks by Senate Historian Richard Baker.

Each year, the society honors a different committee with a gala dinner and uses the occasion to teach Members and staff about the unique history of their committees. Last year’s dinner paid tribute to the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, and in 2003 the society honored the House Appropriations Committee.
