Ex-Mikulski Aide Featured at Md. Gallery

A former Capitol Hill staffer’s work will be the featured exhibit this weekend at the Yellow Barn Gallery in Glen Echo, Md.

A former legislative assistant to Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) for arts, education and labor policy, Rebecca Litt left Capitol Hill behind to be an instructor in figure drawing and landscape painting at Yellow Barn.

Her paintings that will be showcased are landscape pieces with an emphasis on color and light, and they were inspired by local neighborhoods in the Washington, D.C., area as well as her time spent in Rome.

Litt earned her bachelor’s in fine art from Tufts University and spent a year in Rome after graduation “to concentrate on developing her art,” according to a press release. She will attend Indiana University’s School of Fine Arts this fall to pursue her master’s.

The gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday with an artist reception scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the gallery. For more information, contact the gallery at (301) 371-5593.
