Before He Was a QB …

… Heath Shuler was a tailback. OK, he was only 11 years old when he ran the ball for Red Raiders in the Swain County Youth Football Program. Eventually, the now-freshman Democratic House Member from North Carolina switched to quarterback and set passing records at the University of Tennessee. The Washington Redskins drafted him No. 3 overall in the 1994 National Football League draft, but he was never able to recreate his college (or rec league) performance in the pros.
