North Carolina: McHenry’s Democratic Foe Collects Six Figures

Rep. Patrick McHenry’s (R) Democratic opponent raised $120,000 during the first two months of his campaign, according to local media reports out this week.

According to The Charlotte Observer, Daniel Johnson, a former local prosecutor who is now in private practice, is expected to report his six-digit haul to the Federal Election Commission this week.

Johnson’s year-end fundraising total may help his long-shot bid to topple Congress’ youngest Member, whose solidly crimson district gave him more than 60 percent of the vote in 2006. McHenry has a challenge in the Republican primary from attorney and military veteran Lance Sigmon (R).
