Wyoming: Enzi Officially Declares He’ll Run for Third Term

Sen. Mike Enzi (R) finally made it official on Saturday: He is seeking a third term.

Enzi broke the news in Gillette, the town where he once served as mayor and prospered as a shoe store owner for almost 30 years.

“I’m asking the people of Wyoming to renew my contract,” Enzi said during a speech at City Hall, according to the Gillette News-Record. “Together, I know we can do a lot more.”

Enzi, 64, has not been raising money aggressively — he finished March with $647,000 on hand — leading to some speculation that he would not run again. But Enzi probably doesn’t have to sweat re-election, either. His likely Democrat challenger is college professor Chris Rothfuss, a political unknown.
