New Jersey: Two Debates Set Before Democratic Senate Vote

After repeatedly being criticized by his Democratic opponents for “hiding” from a face-to-face meeting, Sen. Frank Lautenberg accepted his second debate invitation in as many days on Wednesday.

The Senator will face Rep. Robert Andrews (D) and Morristown Mayor Donald Cresitello (D) in a radio debate hosted by New Jersey 101.5 FM on May 29 at 7 p.m. The lone television debate that Lautenberg has agreed to will take place a day later and will be hosted by New Jersey Network.

Both the Andrews and Cresitello campaigns, which want more debates, have complained that their one chance to appear on TV against Lautenberg will come on a Friday evening.
