Tennessee: Challenger Closes Gap on Blackburn in Poll

Shelby County Register of Deeds Tom Leatherwood released a survey this week showing him gaining on Rep. Marsha Blackburn in the Volunteer State’s 7th district GOP primary.

According to an Ethridge and Associates poll of 300 likely voters, Leatherwood trailed Blackburn 37 percent to 48 percent. The survey was conducted June 28-29 and had a 5.6-point margin of error.

Blackburn’s 11-point lead was significantly smaller in the June poll than it was in a March poll that showed her up by 27 points.

“After talking to voters throughout the district, these numbers don’t surprise me,” Leatherwood said in a news release. “Republicans are ready for a change in Washington and that includes someone who will address high gas and grocery prices, the economy and illegal immigration.”
