Bush Drops Housing Bill Veto Threat

President Bush has dropped his veto threat against the housing bill, a White House official said today.

The president continues to oppose portions of the bill but feels that on balance the measure is necessary to help support U.S. financial markets, the official said. Bush will now accept Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s recommendation and sign the bill.
