Boehner Rips Administration Over Stem Cell Policy
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) blasted the Obama administration on Monday for releasing new rules that ease restrictions on the use of federal dollars for embryonic stem cell research.“These final regulations represent a troubling development for those who believe that taxpayer funds should not be used to destroy human life,— Boehner said.Boehner was responding to rules issued Monday by the administration that will make older stem cell lines eligible for federally financed research. He said the rules “create incentives for the destruction of human life— and urged President Barack Obama not to push the issue while Congress debates health care reform legislation.“Health care reform should not be a vehicle to advance controversial pro-abortion policies. Rather, it should be an opportunity to work in a bipartisan way to give Americans better access to affordable, high-quality health care,— Boehner said.
