Pelosi and Reid Visit Obama at White House

President Barack Obama on Wednesday is meeting at the White House with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to discuss the economy and employment, according to a White House official.The White House has said it supports an extension of jobless benefits and is looking at extending the tax credit for first-time homebuyers, but it has not endorsed a second stimulus bill — an idea that is being discussed by some on Capitol Hill.Other topics, particularly health care, are also likely to come up. The White House official described the session as part of regular consultations between the White House and the leadership. The meeting did not appear on today’s White House schedule.Reid and Pelosi were at the White House on Tuesday along with other Congressional leaders to talk with Obama about his Afghanistan strategy.
