HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Peterson Plays Guitar Hero

Peterson Plays Guitar Hero. Rep. Collin Peterson was living a rock ’n’ roll dream last night, playing guitar alongside legendary Rolling Stones keyboardist Chuck Leavell. [IMGCAP(1)]The Minnesota Democrat and Agriculture Committee chairman played a few tunes to a packed crowd at the Mansion on O Street for an event sponsored by the American Forest Foundation. “Chairman Peterson held his own — with an able if reluctant solo — in a lively mini-set of Rolling Stones tunes that included ‘Honky Tonk Woman’ and ‘Dead Flowers,’— AFA spokesman James Wyerman tells HOH. They also played “Alberta, Alberta,— an old blues song that Leavell once recorded with Eric Clapton. And we hear the audience, which included Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) — who was on hand to collect the organization’s Woodland Advocate of the Year award — enjoyed the jams. It wasn’t the first time the two have shared a stage: Leavell, a forestry buff and tree farmer, once played with Peterson’s now-defunct all-Congress band, the Second Amendments.Rock on, Mr. Chairman.Submit your hot tips, juicy gossip or comments here. Can’t get enough HOH?
