[IMGCAP(1)]The Senate committee set up to investigate the Watergate break-ins met through the summer of 1973 and included (far right) Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), who today reaches a milestone as the third-longest-serving Senator in history. On the committee were (from top): Sens. Lowell Weicker (R-Conn.) and Edward Gurney (R-Fla.), Chief Minority Counsel Fred Thompson, Sens. Howard Baker (R-Tenn.) and Sam Ervin (D-N.C.), Chief Counsel Samuel Dash, and Sens. Herman Talmadge (D-Ga.), Inouye and Joseph Montoya (D-N.M.).
