Suspicious Envelope Closes Reid’s Office

A suspicious envelope caused a stir in the office of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Wednesday, prompting a call to the Capitol Police for further investigation and closing Reid’s office for about 45 minutes.The envelope was delivered along with Reid’s mail Wednesday afternoon. According to Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, the envelope was something “the staff found unusual.— The Capitol Police were in the process of conducting a standard test for hazardous materials, but nothing had been found.The Capitol remains open, but the corridors immediately around Reid’s office were restricted during the incident. Reid’s office has been reopened.
